House Bill Making it Illegal to Text and Drive Advances to the Senate

Texting while operating a motor vehicle is dangerous. The Idaho House of Representatives recently passed a watered down bill making texting while operating a motor vehicle an infraction in Idaho punishable by a fine of $50.00. The bill advances to the Idaho Senate for approval. If approved, the bill will go to the governor for his consideration and signature or veto. Earlier the Idaho Senate passed a bill that would make texting while driving a misdemeanor punishable by 90 days jail and a $300.00 fine or both.

I recommend all Idahoans to call both their senators and governor to encourage the passage legislation to help make our roads a safer and better place for our children and grandchildren. To locate your legislator, go to http://www.legislature.idaho.gov/howtocontactlegislators.
