JC Penny Purchasing Corp has announced the recall of Cooks Outdoor® BBQ Grills sold exclusively by JC Penny stores nationwide, because the drip pan to the grill does not allow for adequate drainage posing a risk of fire and burn hazards to the consumer. At least 11 reports of fires have been reported due to alleged inadequate drainage. Over 5,000 units have been sold. The product recalled has the Lot Number 780-2176 printed on the underside of the grill's stand. Consumers should immediately discontinue use of this product and take precaution by removing the gas regulator and hose assembly and return them to a JC Penny retail store from which they were purchased and/or the Catalog/Customer Service Desk for a full refund. Consumers may contact JC Penny for instructions on how to disconnect the gas regulator and hose by contacting the firm at 888.333.6063 anytime or consult the firm's website at www.jcp.com.
