New Mode Sportswear Recalls Children's Hooded Sweatshirts Due to Strangulation Hazard

New Mode Sportswear has recalled its 21 Pro USA Children’s Pullovers and Hoodies, because the children’s sweatshirts have a drawstring through the hood which can pose a strangulation hazard to children. In February 1996, CPSC issued guidelines which were incorporated into an industry voluntary standard in 1997 to help prevent children from strangling or getting entangled on the neck and waist drawstrings in upper garments, such as jackets or sweatshirts. This recall involves children’s hooded pullover and zip hooded sweatshirts in sizes S-XL. They were sold in black, navy blue and heather gray. Brand name “21 Pro USA” Sportswear and RN#92952 are printed on a label sewn into the neck of the sweatshirts. Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from the sweatshirts to eliminate the hazard or return the garments to the place of purchase or to New Mode Sportswear for a full refund. For additional information, contact New Mode Sportswear toll-free at 888.899.0888 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. PT Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s website at www.21prousa.com.
